Lead GSE Technician- YYC, YUL and YYZ
We are seeking an experienced Lead GSE Technician to join our team and take charge of complex ground support equipment maintenance operations. This leadership role combines hands-on technical expertise with team supervision, ensuring our clients receive the highest quality maintenance services that keep airports operational 24/7.
Required Qualifications:
- At least 2 years of experience in Maintenance or equivalent heavy equipment/automotive background
- Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to obtain airport security clearance (SIDA badge)
- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in various weather conditions
- Strong leadership and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASE certification or equivalent technical certifications
- Airport/aviation industry experience
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
- DOT or EPA certifications
- Supervisory or lead technician experience
What You'll Do
- Lead technical operations for maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of diverse GSE fleet including baggage handling equipment, aircraft pushbacks, and ground power systems
- Supervise and mentor junior technicians, providing technical guidance and ensuring quality standards
- Perform advanced diagnostics on hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems using specialized test equipment
- Coordinate with airport operations to minimize equipment downtime and maintain flight schedules
- Ensure compliance with FAA regulations, airport security protocols, and safety standards
- Manage work orders and maintain detailed maintenance records and documentation
- Respond to emergency calls for critical equipment failures requiring immediate attention
Work Environment:
- Primarily field-based work at airport locations
- Some on-call rotation for emergency services
